Kefalonia, all I dreamt of and more.

Kefalonia, all I dreamt of and more.

You’ll know by now that joining an NCT class has been my saving grace. And the friends I’ve met will be friends for life.

Earlier this summer four of us families, that’s couples and babies, bombarded the tranquil paradise of the White Rocks Hotel in Kefalonia for our first beach holiday.

Kefalonia has been on my wish list since I was 18 and studied Captain Corelli’s Mandolin at A Level. Finally I get to go, but I’d never have imagined it’d be with a mass group including four babies.

With four families, we had it all covered in all the wrong ways; the teething baby, the baby with a bug pooing diarrhoea with each crawl, the baby with a 40 degree temperature in 40 degree heat and the baby who was so thrown by the unfamiliar surroundings that he got day and night mixed up. Should I add they’re a year old?

Yes, it’s not easy travelling with bubbas but we still had the time of our lives. In true social media fashion I’ll breeze over the eventful bits and show you the highlights. Ha! Here’s some of my favourite shots from our first real family holiday on the isle of Kefalonia. It’s stunning, you must go!

Romantic table for two in the lunch area overlooking our private beach – romantic until our babies come along!

My boys enjoying the shallow sparkling waters of the private beach

A spot of lunch in the cool shade of the tree – I love how natural this one is

Beautiful view, the turquoise waters looking out to the bay

Me hiding behind Mon Petit Prince

The man of the moment all dressed up for dinner

We hired a var and toured the island for the day. First stop; the harbour at Sami

A traditional old fisherman boat – nothing fancy and totally does the job

A cat waiting for the catch of the day thrown to him by the fisherman
My boys at sunset
Quick stop at the pop up stall at the side of the road to taste and buy the local honey

The beautiful Melissani Lake, which was unearthed as a result of a catastrophic earthquake. Silver lining and all that…

Mama & Lex at sunset, kisses and smiles

A meal in Agia with a view like this…

The most stunning beach I have ever seen. No filter or touch ups – Myrtos Beach is so dazzling your eyes hurt!

The turtles frequent Argostoli Harbour daily for their breakfast; any fish caught in the line or not good enough to sell go to these beautiful creatures

Teaching Lex to reach for the stars!
And here we all are – a mass group selfie of our awesome Kefalonia Squad. What a blast!
